Councilwoman Marianna Keesee
District 1

Welcome to the City of Tifton Web site! I’m Marianna G. Keesee, elected in January 24, 2007 to the City Council. I was born and raised in Tifton and was a teacher and administrator for 34 years in Tift County. My years of living in this City have made me aware of its continued economic growth, and I am proud to see it emerge as an educational, agricultural, and medical center for South Georgia.

I pledged to my constituents in District 1 to offer “a new voice” to the City Council. I solicit citizens’ input on matters coming before the Council and making our government open and accessible to the people. You can get no closer to government that affects you than your local government officials. I am especially interested in the following:

  • Well Planned Land Use
  • The Economic Welfare of the City and County
  • Providing a Business Friendly City
  • Beautification and Promoting the Cultural Life of our City

I believe that government is FOR the people. I am grateful for the opportunity to work for a better Tifton, and as the newest Council member, am busy working with staff on concerns of citizens that I noted while campaigning. I am also studying ordinances, inter-local agreements, policies, and funding sources to make our City even better. As I learn more about other cities in Georgia, I am increasingly pleased with the comparison that Tifton stacks up with the very best !

Hello,

I’m proud to be a member of our great community and proud to represent you as District 2’s Councilman.

Tifton is blessed to have so many resources.   Interstate, major State routes and an excellent rail utility; to attract and grow our local economy.  Businesses and individuals have to operate differently in 2012, and our City is no exception; we must move and change our business methods to provide excellent service to the City’s Citizens at the lowest cost.

My top priorities are getting the City financially sound, growing businesses and being business friendly and growing jobs in our community.    We have to first make sure our “house” is in order financially and then work to strengthen programs aimed at helping our local business grow.  Growing jobs and helping businesses create jobs is paramount to the stability of a community.

We all love our community; and I will do my best to fight for what is right, ethical and financially sound for District 2 and all of Tifton.   If I can ever be of service, please don’t hesitate to call me at (229) 251-6804 or email me at cparrott@tifton.net

Highest regards,

Chris

Welcome to the City of Tifton website!  I am honored to represent Tifton’s District 4 and look forward to many years of public service for the citizens of this great community.

Strategically located as a transportation hub in South Central Georgia, Tifton is recognized for its strong agricultural base, diverse industrial and business base, high quality of life, award winning Downtown District, and abundant natural resources.  Combining progressive planning and development strategies with our Chamber of Commerce, Development Authorities, and other economic development groups, the Tifton City Council and Management work diligently to assure positive benefits to not only our citizens, but those who visit, shop, go to school, or conduct other business with us.

We are rooted in family and neighborhood values and offer the best in community life including excellence in education, recreation, spiritual life, cultural and artistic experiences, health care and public protection.   But perhaps our most outstanding community resources are the people who call Tifton home.  It only takes a little while to understand why we are “The Friendly City” and why Tifton is such a great place to live.

If I can ever be of assistance to you, I hope you will call me at 229.339.1776 or email me at JulieSmith@Tifton.net.  Feel free to browse through the City website for the latest on community events, meeting information, and more.
