Police Officer Terrelle Lee "Terry" Adams

Cause of Death: Motorcycle accident
Officer Terry Adams was killed in a motorcycle accident on Tift Avenue. He was driving the motorcycle with his emergency equipment activated when a pickup truck pulled out of a shopping center and Officer Adams collided with the driver's side door of the truck.He succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a local hospital. Officer Adams served with the agency for seven years. He is survived by his wife and four children.

Patrolman Mercer Leroy Denby

Cause of Death: Gunfire
Patrolman Mercer Denby and Chief Joseph Henderson were shot and killed by a drunken soldier which had been arrested by Patrolman Denby. The suspect was able to gain control of Patrolman Denby's weapon and aim and shoot at him. The suspect then fled into the streets and started to fire the gun randomly. Chief Henderson was shot when he rushed to the scene to assist Patrolman Denby. Patrolman Denby succumbed to his wounds 6 weeks later. The suspect was sentenced to death and executed in the electric chair at Reidsville State Prison on May 28, 1943.
