City of Tifton renews “PlanFirst” distinction
TIFTON, GEORGIA – October 13, 2020, The City of Tifton has received statewide distinction once again from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs PlanFirst program for 2021-2022. This program recognizes excellence in community planning and rewards communities that clearly demonstrate an established pattern of successfully implementing their Local Comprehensive Plan. Designated communities are eligible for technical assistance, as well as bonus points and enhanced eligibility for certain DCA funding opportunities.
City of Tifton City Manager Pete Pyrzenski said, “We are proud to achieve such a designation and we are prepared to utilize such tools to make the City of Tifton even better for tomorrow. I would like to commend City Clerk Jessica White and our staff for making it possible.”
To apply for PlanFirst, communities are required to address four primary program criteria focused on having a proven record of plan implementation success: goals, leadership, community participation and implementation. The designation is for three years – beginning January 1, 2021 – and enables these communities to take advantage of various incentives that include public recognition, eligibility for specified grant opportunities, and certain reduced interest loans.
