The City of Tifton would like to remind citizens that reside in the Historic District that any construction, modifications, changes, or alterations to the exterior of a home or business located in the Historical District requires a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA). The COA is required before the issuance of a building permit or before the start of any project that might change the exterior appearance of the home.

Please contact the Community Development Department of the City of Tifton before the start of any project within the Historic District. We will be glad to assist you by answering any questions that may present themselves.

The Historical District map of the City of Tifton can be located in the Community Development Department Office. If there are any questions as to whether your home is located in the Historic District, please feel free to call our office for assistance.

Please be aware that the online code of ordinances may not reflect recent updates. For the most current version of our code of ordinances, please contact the office.
